Importance of Traffic to Adsense Site

What do you think about traffic? In reality, busy traffic is undesirable and not beneficial to a society. However, on the other hand, in the world of internet, traffic is a good thing. As we all know, traffic is a very valuable asset to a website, especially the one with Google Adsense Ads inside. Without traffic, you won't have clicks; without clicks, you won't have any revenue. Do you know how large the traffic volume is for those really "big" site? They can even have more than 300 clicks per day for their sites. It is quite extraordinary to a newbie of Adsense.

As time goes on, more and more webmasters begin to realize the importance of traffic to their sites. The amount of traffic generated by a given site is perhaps the most important predictor of the amount of AdSense revenue it generates. Therefore, to me, traffic is KING!! Even with the importance of factors such as proper formatting and placement of ads, no site can succeed without a sufficient number of visitors checking out the ads being offered.

For illustration purposes, let us look at a website that is receiving 100 visitors per day (it is quite difficult to achieve for some new Gsensers). Let's assume that the size gets an average of 10 cents per click, with a CTR of 5%. This means that of those 100 visitors, only 50 will click the ad (the 5% figure is a pretty realistic standard). That means that an average day's earnings would be a mere half a dollar, with an average monthly take of only $15 or so. These measly earnings may not even be enough to cover the hosting fees for the site.In order to earn even $60 per month, it would be necessary to quadruple the number of daily visitors, increase the click through rate, or both. You can see, therefore, why it is so important to constantly strive to drive more and more traffic through your virtual doors.

There are of course a number of strategies to increase web traffic, and most webmasters will have heard the term SEO, or search engine optimization. SEO techniques use a combination of targeted content rich in popular keywords, links from other sites and other methods to drive traffic and increase search engine rankings. Search engine rankings can be vital to website traffic, of course, since most people use some sort of search engine to find the information they need on a variety of subjects. Pay per click advertising, or PPC, is another popular way to build traffic to a site.

While this strategy can be very effective, it can also be quite costly, so it is important to carefully read the fine print of the agreement before signing up. Apart from that, you need to be very careful to those paid-to-surf, pard-to-click and auto-surf programs. Google can detect these programs very effectively, and in f act, many webmasters were being banned by Google just because they enrolled these programs. So, be careful to void these sorts of programs.

Hope this post can give you a brief introduction on how importance the traffic is to a site. If you have any enquiries, please kindly leave me a comment.

This is a very useful blog. I will include you in my links. Question:

1) Since I changed the template of my blog, the adsense codes doesn't seem to work. In this page, http://econ-discourse.blogspot.com/2007/05/global-competitiveness-ranks.html
I copy pasted the adsense code but nothing but a blank space appears. The code was pasted right before the first line of my post.

2) In other post, the 250x250 ad which used to appear correctly, is now a long vertical banner. This is the particular post -- http://econ-discourse.blogspot.com/2007/04/need-for-perfect-and-complete.html

3) I also need help in putting an adsense code on the aligned to the left or right of every post (just like this particular post of yours). Thanks!

Hi andolini,

Thanks for the link and comment. For the first question, I checked your link, and there is a skyscraper ad there. I think your first question has been solved.

For the second question, I also checked the HTML source of that webpage. I found there is no 250x250 adsesne code, but one 160x600 skyscraper code. I think if you want to put a large square ad, you need to generate a new one in your adsense account.

For the third question, I have written a specific post on "wrapping ad with post" under the topic of "Adsense Specialities". Please let me know if you cannot find it.

Hope it helps, and look forward to hearing from you soon!

Really I find your site something different with a positive vibration. A sicere fellow is there in between lines. Keep it up.

I have a simple doubt - If I am paying 5$ per click ( a hypothetical situation)
to Adwords and I am getting one trafic. If he clicks an ad in my site I will get less than $5. And all the trafic which I get in my site will not click ad in my site. So how it will be profitable by depending on Adwords?

At 27 May, 2007 19:31, Blogger Adsense Decoder said...

Hi bala,

Thanks for your comment.

For your question, it really depends on the value of keywords, and that's why it is not so easy to do so with each keywords. It is almost impossible to do so for some highly competitive keywords. Therefore, you need to do some keyword research and find out those niche keywords that face far little competition and pay less to Adwords.

Please put a backlink to my site in order to help more Adsense newbies.

You have a nice site, to be honest. I think the black column on the right hand side is not so matched with the main column. Putting all the ads and referral buttons will lower the CTR.

Also, the leaderboad ad on the bottom is quite stand out from the background. Try not to use the black color as the background, but white color.

Please provide a backlink to my site as a little reward.

Looks like you are an experienced person in optimizing Adsense on a site. I have been assigned to help optimize the web site http://www.foreign-trade.com in their Adsense placement. I think I have done what I can but it didn't improve much. So there is got to be more to be done on the site without giving the impressions that it is full of ads. Any comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Hi Danny,

The layout is quite good, but the ads are really "separated" from the body of the page, and hence people will ignore the presence of the ads.

Please provides a backlink to my site for further assistance.

Building traffic to websites is something that I've had a problem with since I started building sites last year. Your blogs on building traffic will help me tremendously. You suggested that we write articles and submit them to different sites. Can you give a listing of some of these sites, please? Also, can you give a format or script for articles? That would help tremendously.

Thanks for all of the great information that you've provided. LINK

According to Google, you need to have good content along with the links to your web site, because it is importing to have visitor react with your website or stay long without high bounce rate which mean that they are getting what they came for so Google will recommend you for some one looking for the same topic.

hey

I'm pretty new to AdSense but my blog has been up for a long while now

before using adsense i used a couple of traffic exchange-like community sites like blog rush, blog mad, and trafficera

do you know if these violate the AdSense TOS?

i need to know if i should be stopping these immediately or if i'm allowed to use one or two

Hi Veedo,

No, publishers in Adsense is not allowed to participate in any traffic-exchange programs, so I advise you to stop using them immediately.

At the end of the day, the traffic gained from these programs is pointless.
