Adsense Alternatives 7 - Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN)

Yahoo is always the keen competitor with Google in search engine industry. Several years ago, Google has started to explore the new business area in internet advertising. Adwords and Adsense are the two complimentary programs that help Google generates billions of dollars a year. In this market, Google is having the biggest market share in internet advertising. In light of this, Yahoo need to keep up the pace with Google and start a very similar contextually-targeted ad program called Yahoo! Publisher Network (YPN).

Yahoo! Publisher Network is still in the beta stage and only accept the publishers from US, but not elsewhere. Also, the requirement of the website is also harsh. Below are the eligibility requirements:

To be included in a Yahoo! Publisher Network implementation, a web page must meet the following guidelines:

- The Ad Unit must be clearly marked as "Ads by Yahoo!" and cannot be obscured in any way
- The Ad Unit must be shown in the requested page, not as a pop-up or pop-under window or in an e-mail
- The Ad Page must be content-based, fully functional and not contain any broken links. Non-content pages include domain registration pages, welcome pages, error pages, and Web content generated in or through software applications
- The Ad Page must be in English or Spanish and be consistent with the language of the Listings
- The Ad Page must respond adequately to user requests
- The Ad Page must not actively encourage users to click on Ad Units
- The Ad Page must not disable the browser's back button
- The Ad Page must not spawn more than one partial pop-up/pop-under window and this window must not interfere with user navigation
- The Ad Page must not automatically replace the browser homepage
- The Ad Page must not prompt a user to download files or programs to access your site
- The Ad Page must not automatically install files or programs on the user's machine

Since I am not in U.S., I do not have such opportunity to participate this program.
If you have experience with YPN, feel free to share with us. Let's see some of the FAQs from this most viable Adsense Alternatives program:

How do I apply for the Yahoo! Publisher Network Beta program?
To apply for the program, please visit http://publisher.yahoo.com. Click the "Apply Now" link located at the top of the page, or the "Apply Now" button located in the "Earn Revenue from Your Web Site" box, then fill out the beta key request form.

How long will it take for you to review my application?
If your site is eligible to participate in the beta program, you will usually receive a response from us within 10 business days. If it is not eligible, you should receive a response from us in 7-14 business days.
How much will I earn through this program?
Yahoo! Publisher Network ads are sold on a cost-per-click basis, so advertisers are charged only when Internet users click on their ads. While we cannot estimate the amount of money you could potentially make, the highly targeted nature of these ads can help you to effectively monetize your website.

When will ads begin appearing on my site?
Your Yahoo! Publisher Network ads will usually begin appearing within a few minutes of pasting the ad code into your web pages. If no ads are available, "run-of-network" ads are displayed until more relevant ads are matched to the pages, typically within 24 hours.

Can I have more than one set of Yahoo! Publisher Network ad units on a web page?
You are allowed to display ads in multiple areas of your web page(s). In order to do so, paste the code multiple times as appropriate for your page. Keep in mind that the same set of ads may appear in each of the areas that you have chosen to display ads.

Hi rmn,

Thank you very much for your comment. I really appreciate that.

After reviewing your site, there are several points that I want you to note.
1. You cannot have both Google adsense ads and Bidvertiser ads on the same page. This violates Google TOS. This applies to the Obeus ads too.

2. For the Adsense ads alone, it is quite standout from the background, and this will affect your CTR negatively.

3. You have far too many banner ads or affiliate ads at the bottom. This is not helpful in getting more income, but affect visitor's visiting experience. Hence, earning from Adsense will also drop.

4. You have only use 1 Adsense for Content unit, and in fact, you should use more.

Overall, your site has a nice outlook. But if you really want to make money from your site, you need to put more effort into it (There are already too many online-money-teaching sites out there). My advice is concentrate on Adsense ALONE first! Ignore other ads or affiliates networks. They will not be as good as Adsense. Remove all those non-Adsense ads now, and put more Adsense ads, search boxes, and link unit etc.

I recently bought a SEO software with Business edition. If you would like to have a deep SEO analysis for your site, leave your email address to me here.

I think I have given quite a lot of advices, and please put a backlink to my site.
