Page Rank Assigned!

If you have a Google Toolbar installed in your browser (mine using IE), you can see that Google has recently update the pagerank of websites. Da Gsense Code, after quite a lof SEO effort has been inputted, has now a PageRank of 4, which is not too bad. I also have two other new websites, and they both have a PageRank of 3.

From my SEO experience, I think it is not a problem for your site to have a PageRank of 4, if you are willing to put in your time and effort. The most difficult task of SEO practice should be getting the backlink from other sites (esp. those with high PR).

Hope you can also have a good PR. Even if you do not have a nice PR for your site, you do not need to worry about and frustrated. Google will regularly check the PR and re-evaluate your site again, and give you a better PR if you have proper practice.

For more information on how to do SEO, please refer to my related post here!

Adsense Alternatives 7 - Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN)

Yahoo is always the keen competitor with Google in search engine industry. Several years ago, Google has started to explore the new business area in internet advertising. Adwords and Adsense are the two complimentary programs that help Google generates billions of dollars a year. In this market, Google is having the biggest market share in internet advertising. In light of this, Yahoo need to keep up the pace with Google and start a very similar contextually-targeted ad program called Yahoo! Publisher Network (YPN).

Yahoo! Publisher Network is still in the beta stage and only accept the publishers from US, but not elsewhere. Also, the requirement of the website is also harsh. Below are the eligibility requirements:

To be included in a Yahoo! Publisher Network implementation, a web page must meet the following guidelines:

- The Ad Unit must be clearly marked as "Ads by Yahoo!" and cannot be obscured in any way
- The Ad Unit must be shown in the requested page, not as a pop-up or pop-under window or in an e-mail
- The Ad Page must be content-based, fully functional and not contain any broken links. Non-content pages include domain registration pages, welcome pages, error pages, and Web content generated in or through software applications
- The Ad Page must be in English or Spanish and be consistent with the language of the Listings
- The Ad Page must respond adequately to user requests
- The Ad Page must not actively encourage users to click on Ad Units
- The Ad Page must not disable the browser's back button
- The Ad Page must not spawn more than one partial pop-up/pop-under window and this window must not interfere with user navigation
- The Ad Page must not automatically replace the browser homepage
- The Ad Page must not prompt a user to download files or programs to access your site
- The Ad Page must not automatically install files or programs on the user's machine

Since I am not in U.S., I do not have such opportunity to participate this program.
If you have experience with YPN, feel free to share with us. Let's see some of the FAQs from this most viable Adsense Alternatives program:

How do I apply for the Yahoo! Publisher Network Beta program?
To apply for the program, please visit http://publisher.yahoo.com. Click the "Apply Now" link located at the top of the page, or the "Apply Now" button located in the "Earn Revenue from Your Web Site" box, then fill out the beta key request form.

How long will it take for you to review my application?
If your site is eligible to participate in the beta program, you will usually receive a response from us within 10 business days. If it is not eligible, you should receive a response from us in 7-14 business days.
How much will I earn through this program?
Yahoo! Publisher Network ads are sold on a cost-per-click basis, so advertisers are charged only when Internet users click on their ads. While we cannot estimate the amount of money you could potentially make, the highly targeted nature of these ads can help you to effectively monetize your website.

When will ads begin appearing on my site?
Your Yahoo! Publisher Network ads will usually begin appearing within a few minutes of pasting the ad code into your web pages. If no ads are available, "run-of-network" ads are displayed until more relevant ads are matched to the pages, typically within 24 hours.

Can I have more than one set of Yahoo! Publisher Network ad units on a web page?
You are allowed to display ads in multiple areas of your web page(s). In order to do so, paste the code multiple times as appropriate for your page. Keep in mind that the same set of ads may appear in each of the areas that you have chosen to display ads.

Why I am getting PSA?

I have been asked many times that the Gsense ads in my site only shows PSA (Public Service Advertisement), and hence cannot earn any from Gsense. I hence decide to write a post on explaining why PSA will show. If you are getting PSA right now, try to find out the cause and then tackle them.

1) Google's crawler needs more time.
If Google has not previously crawled your site, it may take up to 48 hours or more before our crawlers gather content from that page. In the meantime, the ads you see may be public service ads or ads that are only slightly relevant. The relevance will increase over time.Note: Google's crawler indexes by URL and therefore considers http://site.com and http://www.site.com different URLs. Because Google's crawler will visit these URLs separately, you may notice ads appear differently on these pages.

2) Google's crawler can't reach your site.
If our crawler isn't able to access your page, we'll provide you with an error message on the Site Diagnostics page of your account.

3) Your page may contain sensitive content.
Google's system has certain filters in place to protect our advertisers from advertising on pages that could be construed as potentially negative, non-family safe or even offensive. Although the nature of your content may not fit into any of these categories, at times the emphasis of some sensitive subject matters on a page can flag our servers to deliver public service ads to a page.

4) Your website is using session IDs in the URL.
If your web pages use session IDs, you may not receive targeted ads on those pages. Since this session ID - and therefore the URL - changes every time a different user views a page, the URL will not be in the index and will be queued to be crawled. Once the URL is crawled, however, the session will most likely have expired. This means that pages seen by the users are never in the index. You will need to remove the session IDs in order to display targeted ads.

5) Your website is using frames.
Google AdSense crawlers are unable to match ads to your web page content when the AdSense ad code is placed in a frame separate from the primary content of your website. It is important to place the ad code in the same frame as the content of your web pages in order to serve ads targeted to your web page content.

6) Your ad unit is set to display image ads only.
Image ad inventory for your content may be limited at this time; if you've chosen not to display text ads in an ad unit, we'll show PSAs in that unit when there are no relevant image ads available. To avoid showing PSA's, we recommend updating your preferences to show both text and image ads or implementing an alternate ad.

7) Your web page may not contain enough content.
There may not be enough information on your site for our crawlers to determine the content of your pages. Therefore, we could be having difficulty identifying relevant ads to show on your pages.

8) The AdSense ad code was placed within an IFRAME.
Google's targeting technology is not optimized to serve ads within a separate IFRAME. If you placed the AdSense code in a separate IFRAME, your site may display less targeted ads or public service ads. For better results, please implement our ad code directly into the source of your web page. Once you make these changes, relevant ads may not appear immediately. Until we are able to re-crawl your site, which may take up to 48 hours or more, your page may continue to display untargeted or public service ads.

9) Your web pages are behind a login.
At this time, pages that require a login can not be easily visited by our crawlers. Additionally, since these types of pages are not easily visited for approval and it is difficult for our AdSense specialists to verify that pages behind a log in follow Google AdSense policies, we are unable to offer support for these pages.

10) There are too many URLs added to your account filter list.
At times, if you add too many URLs to your filter list, we may no longer have other ads available to target to your content. As a result, you may begin seeing less relevant or public service ads on your web pages.

11) Your site content is primarily in an unsupported language.
If the AdSense code is placed on pages with content primarily in an unsupported language, we may show public service ads or ads in another language. As noted in our program policies, publishers may not display ads on pages with content primarily in an unsupported language, so please remove the ad code from these pages until we're able to support your language.

12) Your ad code has been modified
If the AdSense code has been manually modified, such as to change the ad unit width or height or the publisher ID, then we may show public service ads. Please select the desired ad format on the AdSense Setup tab of your account and then paste the generated ad code, unedited, onto your pages. Keep in mind that modifications to your code are not permitted by our program policies.

13) Your page contains a refresh tag.
If the header of your page contains a refresh tag, this may also lead to your page displaying PSA's. Removing this tag can help ensure that you receive targeted ads.

Adsense Alternatives 6 - Oxado

I would like to introduce another contextual advertising network that can be a good Adsense alternative. That is – Oxado. Oxado acts as an two-way aggregator between publishers and advertising networks. It can also deliver targeted ads that base on the content of your webpages.

For publishers, it gives them access to multiple advertising networks, picking the best ads among millions coming from thousands of advertisers, based on the topics of each page, the country and language of each visitor, and numerous other parameters. Their technology developed in-house constantly monitors which ads perform best for each page. This means higher click-through rates, and thus higher revenue for publishers.

For advertising networks, it gives them access to tens of thousands of small and medium sites which they are not able to handle directly. Oxado has set up automated and efficient processes for sign up, site validation, ad targeting, fraud detection, billing and payments, and our content matching and fraud detection technologies mean targeted, interested customers for advertisers.
Your web site can generate revenues by integrating advertising space. The contents of your pages get richer, and at the same time, you make a profit. Once you have signed up on-line with our simple forms, and for free, Oxado handles everything: relevance of ads, real time updates, automated management. Their partner networks represent 60 000 advertisers in the word: it would be difficult not to find relevant ads for your site.

However, the main downside of this program is the high minimum payout, even higher than that of Google Adsense. It requires a publisher to earn 100 euros in order to get payment. Moreover, they do not offer cheques as the payment method if you are not a French residents. They use a paypal-like system called “moneybook”, which is not to popular at the moment.
Anyway, below are some FAQs from Oxado.

- What is required to open an account?
You are required to have a valid email address in order to open an Oxado account. If you want to display Oxado banners, you need to own a website that abide our Terms and Conditions. If you wish to earn money (by displaying Oxado banners or by referral), you must be able to raise an invoice (but we will raise it on your behalf). That means you need to be registered appropriately. We accept incomplete registrations (registration numbers missing, etc.) but it is entirely your responsibility to take the legal steps required and to inform us of any changes in your status.

- Do you accept registrations from all countries?
Yes. However, please note:

· If you are in a country for which we don't have any ads, you won't be able to see any;
· If your visitors are coming from a country (same as yours or another one) for which we don't have any ads, they won't be able to see them and, as a consequence, you won't be able to earn any money;
· Visitors who are coming from a country for which we have ads will be able to see them and you will eventually earn money;
· Modes of payment are different from country to country.

- How will I be paid?
Depending on your country of residence, different payment modes are available:
· by check drawn on a French bank if you are a French resident;
· by bank transfer directly on your bank account if you are a resident in the European Union;
· via Moneybookers.com, no matter your country of residence.

- How much money will I make?
Revenues vary a lot from site to site based on the volume of traffic, the type of content, the audience, and many other parameters. It is thus impossible for us to predict your revenue. However, our servers constantly optimize the ads displayed on your site in order to guarantee the highest possible payout, which should overwhelmingly exceed that of classic ad or affiliation networks.

"DoubleClick's technology is widely adopted by leading advertisers, publishers and agencies, and the combination of the two companies will accelerate the adoption of Google's innovative advances in display advertising," said Eric Schmidt, Chief Executive Officer of Google.

"This transaction will strengthen our advertising network by expanding our access to publisher inventory and enabling us to serve the needs of a broader set of advertisers and ad agencies," said Tim Armstrong, Google's President, Advertising and Commerce, North America.

"Google is the absolute perfect partner for us," said David Rosenblatt, Chief Executive Officer of DoubleClick. "Combining DoubleClick's cutting edge digital solutions for both media buyers and sellers with Google's scale and innovative resources will bring tremendous value to both our employees and clients."

"This transaction affirms the successful transformation of DoubleClick, positions the firm for the future, and greatly benefits our investors."

Both companies have approved the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, and is expected to close by the end of the year.

Differences between Search Engines and Directories

Before you promote your web site, you should know the difference between search engines andInternet directories. Techniques that help you to improve your ranking on search engines might notwork with Internet directories.
What is a search engine?
Search engines use indexing software programs, called robots or spiders. These software programsare programmed to constantly crawl the web in search of new or updated pages.
They will go from URL to URL until they have visited every web site on the Internet. When visiting aweb site, a search engine spider will record the full text of every page found (including sub-pages).

After that, it will continue to visit all external links. The URL of a web page is the address of a webpage, for example "http://www.Axandra.com/ibp".By following external links that point to your web site, search engines are able to find your site. Thesearch engine spiders will then revisit your site periodically to refresh the recorded information. Searchengines rank your web pages based on mathematical formulas.
What is an Internet directory?
Internet directories don't use indexing software programs. If you submit your web site to an Internetdirectory, your web site will be indexed by real people who decide whether to include your web site ornot.
Directories are usually subdivided into categories, and you have to submit your URL under the mostappropriate heading. If you don't, it is very likely that your web site won't be listed.

Earn more with Referral Products

Referral products enable you to earn bonus money from Google Adsense. I always hear some complaints that they have never earn from this commision-like Adsense products. In light of that, I would like to share this adsense secret and aim to help you to get more conversion and hence more earning from referrals.

1. Rotate referral units when you rotate content. Always check to see that the relevance of your referral unit is not diminished by your change in content. If you change the content, remember to chaneg the referral product as well. Place it in a good location also attrack attentions from visitors.

2. Choose relevant products to refer. It is the golden rule for referral to work for you. For example, if you have a site about blogging or web hosting, an AdSense referral unit may work best on your site. The referral product that is most relevant to the content of your site will always perform best. Also, you may also recommend Firefox to visitors in order to improve their visiting experience with your site.

3. Actively endorse the products you refer. Unlike with AdSense for content ads, we encourage you to endorse referral products by calling attention to the button or text link. If you believe in the quality of the product that you're referring, feel free to let your users know! Of course, in line with our policies, you may not click your own ads nor encourage conversions for deceitful reasons.

4. Customize your text links. Our policies allow publishers to alter the font and size of the text link using standard HTML "font" tags around the link. However, the font size changes must be reasonably necessary to match the theme of the site. Unreasonable or abusive changes will constitute a violation of our program policies.

5. Treat referral units as site content rather than traditional ad space. By integrating text links or buttons into related content on your page, you can improve the experience users have on your site, enabling them to easily find the referral buttons you discuss in your content.

6. Experiment. This is unviersakl no matter you are optimizing Adsense for Content or Adsense Referral. Try various text links and button designs to see which performs best on your site. Our policies allow you to place one referral unit per product, for up to four products total, on any given page.

New Referral Product - Google App.

Google has announced to have a new referral product, and now have a total of five of them. This increase the variety and let the publishers to have more choice to earn more money from Gsense. Below are the brief description on the new products:

"Following our recent series of referrals announcements, we're happy to announce that you can now earn $5 per referral for Google Apps.

With Google Apps, we've taken Google's most powerful communication and collaboration tools, and packaged them together so businesses, schools and other organizations can work more effectively while spending less time and money on IT systems. Google Apps provides customized email addresses (powered by Gmail), Google Calendar, Google Talk, Docs & Spreadsheets and Page Creator, all for free. Best of all, everything is hosted by Google, so there's no hardware or software to download, install or maintain.

So how do these referrals work? Just visit the AdSense Setup tab in your AdSense account and click the link for Referrals. Select the Google Apps option and then choose how you want the referral ad to look on your site. (The Google Apps referral ads are available in English right now, but we'll be adding more languages soon.) Copy the code provided into the design of your web pages, and voila! You will be credited $5 when someone clicks the referral ad from your site and signs up for Google Apps with a domain that has not already been signed up for the service. Optimization for the Long Tail

We all know that optimizing your website for search engines is a great way to increase your search traffic, but how many people actually try to go after the long tail? It may sound dumb but going after those often forgotten, highly targeted keywords can increase your search traffic by leaps and bounds. Here are some things you can do to increase your search traffic for long tail keywords:

Paint a picture - be as descriptive as possible (within reason) when writing your content. This could be through the use of more descriptive titles or just being more descriptive through the main content on your website. When doing this don't forget about visitors because if this tactic will hurt their experience you should think twice about it.

Efficiency is the key to success - you don't want to try and figure out long tail keywords manually because this could take forever. A great way to find long tail keywords is to use analytics packages such as HitTail. One of the great things about HitTail is that it is free.

Spy - have you ever noticed that tons of sites that use Sitemeter? I also put a sitemeter icon under the "Da Gsense Codes Stats". The great thing about Sitemeter is that you can publicly see what keywords your competition receives traffic for. Spy on your competition and start going after the long tail terms that drives them traffic.

There are many ways to increase your search traffic by going after long tail keywords. Have you tried going after long tail keywords yet?

How to Double your Adsense Revenue?

If everything about two blogs are identical (theme, traffic and contents) but differ only in Google Adsense placement, will their income be the same? I asked this to myself and look what I found…their income will most likely different. The worst case scenario is that one blog's income maybe one third of the other.

How can you be sure that your Google Adsense placement will bring you the fullest possible income for your blog? We have no time to experiment creating another identical blog nor we do not have the luxury of time to experiment all combinations of ad placement. But we can follow and observe how high adsense blogger place AdSense ads on their blog.

So, I look around, make some research and this is what I found so far.

Link Units can be a very good source of Adsense revenue if placed somewhere near the site navigation links.

Ads that do not blend with the background do not perform well.

Ads that are located in the sidebar and below the page fold are rarely visible to the site visitors.

Ads that are located in the sidebar generally do not perform well.

The perfect location for the Search Box is in the upper right corner. Additionally, the search results page should use the new Adsense code that allows visitors to search without leaving the site.

A 250x250 wide format ad unit mixed with the blog content (near the post title) implemented using div float tag is usually very effective. (I cannot use this approach in beta-blogger template. If any body knows how to do it please tell me).

Ads place at the end of the post is usually effective for lengthy post. Users would typically read the full post and then look for pointers to extra reading.

Consider the Adsense Heat diagram as your guide

New visitors to a blog are also interested to know more about the blog author so their eyes will automatically search for "About Us" or Profile section of the blog. So it makes sense to place a small 200x200 ad just below the profile section since that space receives lot of attention from new visitors. (I will be working to implement this one).

The above knowledge causes me to change my blog's layout. I now have a search box at the upper right corner and I no longer have Adsense ads in the sidebar. I cannot yet say if this is the best Google AdSense layout for my blog. But knowing this is what successful bloggers do, it give me some comfort zone.

Does High-paid Keyword Works in Adsense?

Do high paying google adsense keywords work? Yes without any doubt if you are targeting adsense ads that advertisers are willing to pay high to get targeted visitors because that would be an important business for them, you should really benefit. Instead of earning a few cents per click, you will earn several dollars per click. Now this is indeed a huge difference. This can quickly add up. Usually adsense ads that pay well are in competitive fields whereby it's difficult to get a top search engine ranking and advertisers are paying top dollars to get a high ranking on adwords along with the organic search engine listings. Adsense keywords like mesothelioma, asbestos cancer, asbestos, debt consolidation, refinance, home equity loans, structured settlement, acne, make money and others are among the top paying ones. The high paying adsense keywords usually range between $1-$50 but this is not static and can change depending how much advertisers are willing to pay for. But don't just think that it's that easy to cash in on those keywords.

First of all you need to build a useful website about one these topics preferably and not just adding pages having these type of content while on the other hand your site is about a completely different topic. Google has a system called smart pricing whereby if you are getting lots of clicks to a specific ad and generating good money from it, sometimes Google will try to level the playing field in an attempt to provide a better return on investment for the advertiser. In my opinion, this means that not every click counts the same, some clicks are way better and will tend to convert into either an online sale, a query, a subscriber etc... Google smart pricing model can estimate the value of a click eg based on the site relevance and adjusting prices on an ongoing basis be it lowering it to be just above the competitor's maximum cost per click and giving greater value to the advertiser.

By site relevance, it means - is the whole site dedicated to a specific topic or just a single web page? You can have a page on your site about photography techniques and your site is in fact about digital cameras. Someone who is displaying ads about digital cameras on his digital camera website will get better value for the clicks whereas someone displaying digital camera ads on a particular page on his photography website. The difference is how targeted the visitor is. If the advertiser is getting higher value so will the adsense publisher meaning more dollars per click. For sure, you should try to get some high paying adsense keywords related to the theme of your website to increase profitability in your adsense business while at the same time driving targeted traffic to your pages.
